2008 AERA E85
Power Shootout
Latest News

When final competition ended for the 2006 E85 Power Shootout, AERA was asked if it would happen again. We said it would but were not sure exactly where. Fortunately, we can now say we do have a home for the Shootout and that home will be the 10th Annual Hot Rod and Restoration Trade Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, February 29 and March 1, 2008.

An alignment with the Hot Rod & Restoration Trade Show to host the Shootout helps AERA promote the program and by extension, promotes AERA to a greater number of people.

Real-world, street performance engines running on E85 will be the exercise for 2008 and to that end, AERA member Norm Brandes will be the tip of the arrow for rules and overall administration of competition. Norm runs a highly successful performance engine machine/installation and tuning shop in Silver Lake, WI. Norm shares a vision that the Shootout should represent street performance engines that shops can actually sell to customers; engines that are legal and drivable.

The 2006 competition got the ball rolling and rules developed for that competition taught us what we needed for 2008. Those who competed in 2006 should not fret. Rule changes will not obsolete their efforts and equipment but rather create opportunity to refine them. Norm plans to have interviews with top professionals in our industry about how one should best approach building a winning engine. Not everyone will agree on what should be done but count on plenty of educated opinions. These interviews will be regularly posted on this website, so check in frequently for updates.
